User Experience, driven by Mobile Network...
Today when I saw the news about “Google Buzz” at work, all of my office mates did try to find out if Google Buzz is available for them yet, some get success and some don’t. I as an Android phone user did try it from T-Mobile myTouch3G, guess what? It throw me to the page where it says only Android 2.0+ phones are able to use the Google Buzz. That’s where I discussed the “reason why I...

The iPad: Reality, Unicornism, UXism
So that’s the magical device, the most important invention. Well for average joe,  it is somewhat promising. For some power user it is not. Let’s take a look in to the reality first, it has awesome or I would say gorgeous screen, unlocked but useless on T-Mobile in short AT&T is your only best bet, virtually the only way to go with 3G version is with AT&T, great for high...

My first UX related project...NaanMap
Yup! I just getting myself ready for the NaanMap launch. I dreamed about this idea when I first witness the Zabihah.com, the reason for coming up with the NaanMap idea was simple… I need simplicity whenever I need to search anything related to niche market. Zabihah.com is still complicated and we did our best to come up with the great User Experience with NaanMap to the niche market.

That's what I said... Avatar & iPhone, the...
On Friday December 18, 2009, at work I was discussing with my manager about the Avatar and the technologies involve in to it. I said to him… “James Cameron will for sure is setting the standards, and in my opinion Avatar is like the iPhone of the movies.. as per what I read and will see on Monday at 10:30 am”. So does now we can read the same tone here iPhone raised the bar of...

Facebook, please do not loot the naive user?
Facebook user are not all ‘tech-savvy’ or ‘power-user’ so why loot them for the sake of trying to be Open? Hey Facebook, you missed the Twitter bandwagon, so don’t try to copy their idea by trying to putting all the “chit chat” either in Text Format, Video Format or Photo Format in front of Public, wide open. Do educate your user, without putting the...

Tablet Fever
I get acquainted with Tablet PC when I bought it way back in 2005, my first Tablet PC was Averatec C3500 it was pathetic, lame and seriously not up to the par, battery life was so-so, Tablet PC with AMD Athlon XP-M 2200+ was really a joke thrown on the face of a Joker. Anyways, I gave up, and there is one thing I forgot to mention, I was only using Windows Journal, the built-in Notepad like...

FedEx Track-bar
Recently I noticed few things in the DHL and UPS and other courier services about the presentation of their “Tracking Detail”, the most innovative one is the FedEx Track-bar. It tells me exactly what is the current status of my package. Without reading too much “text”. Here is a lesson for the newbies and experts alike, where the Info-graphic-like picture can represent...

UX Two Cents: Amazon's Add to Wish List
Recently I noticed strange behavior with the “Add to Wish List” button on Amazon.com.  When I already added the book in my wish-list, why I keep seeing this button, why there is no UI indication that the following book is already added in to my wish list? In my opinion there should be a Text Blurb that says “Item you are trying to add already in your Wish-list” and a little link that takes me...

How to write a Functional Specs
As a Information Architect and/or Experience Designer you usually involve in the Functional Specs writing too. Thats how they rock! In my recent experience I noticed few things related to the Functional Specs, they are dry and boring, they won’t offer the “interactivity” or “energy” related to the project. As per our human nature (remember developers are humans too,...

Balsamiq Mockups from iPhone App wire-framing perspective…. Fortunately for any Experience Designer who religiously follow the wireframes ideas, related to websites or software, targeting any platform: mobile or desktop, is blessing in disguise, yes I used the word disguise, because I noticed whenever someone talk about Balsamiq Mockups they usually love to talk about Website Wireframing...

Designing for Touch Screens and Interactive...
designaday: I attended Dan Saffer and Bill DeRouchey’s workshop at Interaction ’09 titled Designing for Touch Screens and Interactive Gestures. While a lot of good information was communicated (Did you know that the largest portion of the brain is devoted to your mouth, while the second largest controls your hands?), much of it was old hat for me. I’ve been designing UIs for tablet PCs with...

Teaching Everything
designaday: Leslie Jensen-Inman published an excellent article on A List Apart in January titled Elevate Web Design at the University Level. She discusses the fact that universities aren’t able to keep pace with web technologies and that their graduates are not prepared by the time they graduate. It isn’t an empty claim—she interviewed thirty-two web design leaders about the issue. In the...

designaday: Carl Alviani writes in his post on Creative Seeds titled Five things Interaction Design probably isn’t: I went to Interaction09 in Vancouver with an intense personal mission to nail down a clear definition of Interaction Designer, and what abilities are needed in order to be one. Almost every time I asked (and I asked a lot of times), the answer was “I have no idea.” Well, Carl, I’m...

Why I hate OpenSource SDK Docs?
If you are like me, you would prefer many Open Source SDKs, and there is always some minor catches here and there, I noticed in Log4Net SDK Reference the document says use “;” semi-colon to seprate the multiple addresses, but guess what? IT’S WRONG! … use “,” instead, this dude’s blog helped me. Fool me once, shame on —shame on you. Fool me —...
